Woman Dies Following Call To House Fire, Greasby

A woman has died following a fire at a house in Greasby.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 5.54pm on Monday, February 25, to Lloyd Drive, Greasby.

A main jet and two high pressure hoses were used to extinguish the flames. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and conducted a search. They found an unconscious woman inside the property.

Station Manager Mark Clarke, who attended the call-out, said: “Firefighters entered the property and brought a lady out of the property and attempted to revive her with CPR and a defibrillator until the arrival of paramedics.

“Sadly the lady was later pronounced dead.”

An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way. Fire safety reassurance visits are expected to take place in the area later this week.

Fire fighting operations had finished by 6.52pm. Damping down operations continued up to around 9pm.

An appliance from West Kirby, one from Upton and one from Heswall community fire stations attended the call-out.
