Fire Crews Assist Ambulance Service To Move Male From Ship

Firefighters and the Search and Rescue Team helped paramedics to move a man from a ship at a dock to a waiting ambulance.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 7.41pm on Monday, April 21, to Bidston Dock.
Firefighters from Upton and Wallasey community fire stations along the Search and Rescue Team from Croxteth Community Fire Station were sent to assist the North West Ambulance Service to move a man from the deck of a ship which was in a dock.
Firefighters and the Search and Rescue Team worked with the ship’s crew to move the ship near to the dockside and carry the man to land and into care of paramedics.
An aerial appliance, which has a platform on the end of an extendable arm and was from Liverpool City Community Fire Station, also attended the scene but it was not needed to move the man on the ship.
The male was taken by ambulance to Arrowe Park Hospital after being transferred from the ship to the shore.
The fire and rescue service had left the scene by 9.41pm.
