Firefighters called to chip pan fire in Leasowe, Wirral

Firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Kingham Close in Leasowe, Wirral at 9.05pm on Wednesday, March 15.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 8.58pm and crews were alerted at 8.59pm. They were on scene at 9.05pm.

Three fire engines attended the fire, which occurred on the second floor of the building and involved a chip pan.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a CO2 extinguisher to put the fire out. They then ventilated the area and carried out a Home Fire Safety Check.

All occupants were out of the building when firefighters arrived. No-one was injured.

A chip pan and its contents, together with a cooker extraction hood, were entirely damaged by fire.

A cooker hob was severely damaged by fire and the kitchen was severely damaged by heat and smoke.

The remainder of the property was slightly damaged by smoke.

Firefighters remained at the scene for around 40 minutes.
