Man given oxygen following bathroom fire in Irby, Wirral

Firefighters were called to a fire at a property on Sandy Lane in Irby just after 1.30pm on Tuesday, March 14.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 1.27pm and crews were alerted at 1.28pm. They were on scene at 1.34pm.

Two fire engines attended the incident, which occurred in an en suite bathroom at the property.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire.

A male occupier was given oxygen therapy by firefighters before being assessed by paramedics.

He was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for further checks.

An en suite bathroom was damaged by fire and smoke and a bedroom sustained smoke damage.

Firefighters carried out a Home Fire Safety Check and remained at the scene for around 50 minutes.
