Fire in Walton, Liverpool

Firefighters were called to a fire on Euston Street in Walton, Liverpool at 9.18pm this evening, Saturday, October 28, where one person sadly died.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 9.11pm and crews were alerted at 9.13pm. They were on scene at 9.18pm.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used high pressure hose reels and a main jet branch to extinguish the fire, which occurred in a bedroom on the top floor of the property.

Firefighters sadly discovered a deceased casualty in the bedroom. A further casualty was treated by paramedics at the scene.

A fire safety and community reassurance campaign will be carried out in roads surrounding Euston Street in the coming days.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. No further details are available at this stage as the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
