Fire involving cars in St Helens

UPDATE: 10.45am Crews had extinguished the fire by 7.10am with main branch hoses and a combined platform ladder used to tackle the incident.

Firefighters have since been dampening down at the scene and dealing with any remaining hotspots and smouldering debris.

All nearby roads have now been re-opened.

An investigation into the cause of the incident will now be carried out during the course of the day.


UPDATE: 6.25am Firefighters are currently attending a fire at a premises on Todd Road in St Helens.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 4.46am and crews were alerted at 4.47am. They were on scene at 4.52am.

Six fire engines and a combined platform ladder are currently at the scene.

The fire, which involves a number of cars, has been divided in to sectors and crews wearing breathing apparatus are using a main jet and a compressed air foam system to tackle it.

No-one is reported injured at this stage.

Road closures are currently in place at Parr Street near to Shaw Street and Parr Street at the roundabout Linkway East. Please avoid the area an find alternative routes.
