Chimney flue fire in Thornton Hough, Wirral

Firefighters were called to a fire involving a chimney flue at a property on Chester High Road in Thornton Hough at 2.53pm on Saturday, January 27.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 2.38pm and crews were alerted at 2.41pm. They were on scene at 2.53pm.

One fire engine attended the incident, where the fire had been extinguished by occupiers.

Crews used a thermal imaging camera to search for areas of heat and a portable water extinguisher to dampen down hot embers.

They carried out a Home Fire Safety Check and fitted two new smoke alarms.

No-one was injured.

The first floor of the property sustained light smoke damage.

Firefighters remained at the incident for around 35 minutes.
