Fire in unoccupied hotel, Borough Road, Birkenhead

Fire crews are currently dealing with a fire in an unoccupied hotel on Borough Road, Birkenhead.

Crews were alerted at 9.03pm on Friday 2nd November and were on scene at 9.06pm. Four fire engines are in attendance.

On arrival, crews found the ground floor of the three storey building well alight. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used main hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

The main body of the fire had been extinguished at around 10pm, and had been contained to the ground floor area of the property.

Firefighting is continuing internally using two hose reel jets to dampen down.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out.

Local residents should keep windows and doors closed due to smoke from the fire.

The incident is ongoing.

Fire crews have now completed firefighting operations and have left the scene.
