House fire in Tranmere

Fire crews dealt with a house fire in Linwood Road, Birkenhead on Wednesday 30th January.

Crews were alerted at 3.50pm and on scene at 3.59pm. Two fire engines attended.

On arrival, crews found the ground floor of a two-storey terraced property alight.

Four firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, entered the property and used high pressure hose reels to extinguish the fire.

Crews rescued a dog and a hamster. Sadly, despite crews administering CPR to the dog using a canine bag valve mask, it later died.

One person was taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

The kitchen sustained fire and smoke damage with the remainder of the property also suffering some smoke damage.

Crews left the scene at 6.13pm.
