Candle falls and starts fire in Liverpool flat

Fire crews dealt with a flat fire in Shaw Street, near Liverpool city centre, on Monday 4th February.

Crews were alerted at 9.38pm and on scene at 9.42pm. Two fire engines attended.

Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, ventilated a second-storey flat after a fire had started, caused by a falling candle.

One person suffered mild smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital for a precautionary check.

The bedroom sustained slight fire damage and severe smoke damage, with the remainder of the floor lightly damaged by smoke.

Crews left the scene at 10.49pm.
