One person released from car following M62 collision

Firefighters attended a multi vehicle collision on the M62 on Tuesday 30th April.

Crews were called to the westbound carriageway, between junction 5 and junction 4, at around 7.35am. Two fire engines and the search and rescue appliance attended.

On arrival crews found four cars and a HGV had been involved in a collision. One of the vehicles was on its roof.

The occupants of three of the cars and the HGV had self extricated when crews arrived.

One person was trapped inside the fourth car. Fire crews used edraulic cutting equipment to remove the door and side post of the vehicle to release this person. They were then handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital for further treatment.

Two other people have been taken to hospital for further assessment.

Fire crews left the scene at 8.55am

North West Motorway Police remain in attendance.
