Firefighters attended a road traffic collision on the M57 motorway on Monday 10th June.

Crews were alerted at 9.21am and on scene at 9.29am. Two fire engines attended as well as the search and rescue appliance.

Colleagues from Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service were also in attendance.

On arrival crews found two vehicles had been involved in a collision on the southbound carriageway of the M57, about one mile from Switch Island.

Crews removed the roof of the first vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment. One person was then released from the vehicle using a longboard and handed into the care of paramedics before being taken to hospital.

The two occupants of the second vehicle had both self extricated when crews arrived. They were assessed at the scene by paramedics but did not appear to have any injuries.
