Building fire on Park Street, Birkenhead

Firefighters are currently in attendance at a building fire on Park Street in Birkenhead.

Crews were alerted at 10.41pm and on scene at 10.47pm. Four fire engines are currently in attendance. The combined platform ladder has also been requested.

On arrival crews found the first floor of a building, approximately 30m x 50m, well alight.

Firefighters are currently using two main branches to fight the fire externally whilst other firefighters attempt to gain access to the property.

Nearby residents and businesses should keep windows and doors closed. Anyone with existing medical conditions should keep medicines nearby and contact NHS 111 if ill effects occur.

The incident is ongoing.


Six fire engines are now in attendance, as well as the combined platform ladder.

All persons have been accounted for.

Firefighters have gained access to the building via shutters. A team of four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using a main jet to tackle the fire. A 9m ladder has been erected to the first floor window to allow crews to monitor the conditions.


The fire has now been extinguished.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out in due course.


Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus carried out hot spotting and damping down using a high pressure hose reel in the early hours.

Fire crews left the scene at 2.07am. Merseyside Police remained in attendance.
