Overturned lorry, Bootle

Firefighters are currently in attendance on Southport Road, Bootle, following an incident involving an overturned lorry.

Crews were alerted at 1.47pm and on scene at 1.53pm.

On arrival crews found a lorry had overturned on the roundabout at the junction of Southport Road and Northfield Road.

The driver of the lorry was out of the vehicle when crews arrived. They were assessed at the scene by North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital for further checks.

A large amount of scrap metal, which the lorry had been carrying, has spilled onto the pedestrian walkway.

Motorists should avoid the area.
