Two Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service fire engines have turned green as part of a campaign supporting Liverpool Samaritans.

The two fire engines are now proudly displaying the charity's logo and phone number.

Samaritans Liverpool & Merseyside Development Manager, Rachel Howley said: “It’s OK to not be OK and we want people, who reach a crisis, to know they can call on the Samaritans, day and night, if they’re struggling to cope.

“Getting that message out there is so important and that’s why we’re so grateful to Merseyside Fire and Rescue for allowing Samaritans to feature on their fire engines. It’s a great partnership - as organisations with a common goal of rescuing people in need - it makes perfect sense for us to work together”.

Fire stations are at the heart of all communities and their fire engines are regularly seen out and about attending incidents. By advertising the charity’s services, it’ll help remind people it’s important to talk about mental health and ask for help when needed.

Group Manager Mark Thomas from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said “Our crews and our appliances are active in our communities every single day of the year. We’re very proud to work alongside Samaritans, highlighting their work and raising awareness of the invaluable service they provide to people within those communities when they are most in need of help.”

The fire engines are expected to display the Samaritans adverts for eight years.
