Disability and Two-Tick Scheme

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service have signed up the Employment Service (Job Centreplus) two-tick scheme. As a two-tick employer, the Service operates a Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS) which means that all disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria for a post will be interviewed. It is important therefore that the minimum criteria for a post are truly the essential criteria.

Candidates apply under the two-tick scheme using a form attached to the application form. The Recruitment Team will advise shortlisting panels when applicants with disabilities apply under the GIS and will remind panel members of the need to ensure that applicants under the scheme who meet the minimum criteria are included on the shortlist.

The Recruitment Team will monitor the shortlisting process to ensure that the principles of the two tick scheme are adhered to.
