Ex-Members Association
The Association exists to provide a social club for former members of Merseyside
Fire and Rescue Service and those brigades which combined in 1974 to form
Merseyside Fire Brigade. (Bootle, Liverpool, St Helens, Wallasey, Southport,
Birkenhead and parts of Cheshire and Lancashire).
It holds regular monthly meetings and also from time to time runs social
evenings, trips etc as decided by the membership.
Another important aspect of the Association is the circulation of information
regarding matters which affect the members. These include details of
retirements, funerals, pension changes etc.
Who can join ? - any former member of the above brigades is
eligible for membership, this includes uniformed staff, clerical staff,
workshops, communications etc. All are most welcome.
Structure
The elected officers are currently:-
These officials are ably assisted by a committee of four members ;-
Mr Martin Reece
Mr Brian Airey
Mr Charlie Lennard
Mr Bill Catterall
Meetings
We meet once a month (except December), on the last Tuesday of the month. The
venue is the Vines public house in Lime St, Liverpool City Centre. It is known
locally as "the Big House" and is easy to find as it is right adjacent to the
Adelphi Hotel. We are always made most welcome, with refreshments being
provided. Meetings start at 8 p.m. but as we often have 80-100 attending members
are advised to arrive 10 minutes earlier so that everyone can get seated in the
large function room at the back of the building.

Membership
We now have over 900 members, fortunately over 700 of these are connected to the
internet which is a great help to the Secretary in circulating information.
Although most members live in the Greater Merseyside area, it is interesting to
note that we also have members in many countries throughout the world.
Subscription
Currently this stands at 0.30p per month. It is usually paid via deductions from
pensions but where necessary other arrangements can be made for payment
