Chin Up For Charity
The Decembeard campaign,
which has the slogan “Real Men
Grow Beards” is the next big thing in
men’s lifestyle charity fundraising. Think “Movember” but with beards... a hairy challenge to help beat the UK’s second biggest cancer killer.
Decembeard was established in the UK in 2011 after Chris Evans announced on Twitter that he was going to take part in Decembeard as he’d missed Movember. Alison Selfe, a Beating Bowel Cancer supporter sadly no longer with us, immediately tweeted him back asking him to do it for Beating Bowel Cancer, as she knew his father had died of the disease. Beating Bowel Cancer has been raising funds throughout Decembeard ever since.
Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer and fourth most common cancer in the UK.
Put down the razor for the month of December and help raise the
target of £250,000 to fund the work of supporting people affected by bowel
cancer and raising awareness of the disease, its symptoms and the importance of
early diagnosis.
Beating bowel cancer is a leading UK charity for people affected by bowel cancer. It advises people to go to their GP if they have any of the following symptoms for three weeks or more:
• A change in bowel habit.
• Bleeding from the bottom
or blood in bowel motions.
• Pain in the abdomen.
• Lump in the abdomen.
• Unexplained weight loss.
• Unexplained tiredness, dizziness or breathlessness.
