The Service, in partnership with Unionlearn and West Lancashire College, are embarking with 17 new candidates on a NVQ level 2 Gym Instructors’ Award. The training will be delivered by Bill Pirrie and his team of Service PTAs.
The qualification aims to provide learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to plan, deliver and evaluate safe and effective fitness instructions via the context of gym-based exercises. Learners successfully completing this qualification will be able to gain access to the registers of exercise professional (REPs) at Level 2.
The course will be a flexible learning programme comprising of electronic portfolio, classroom and gym-based study and assessment.
• Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise. • Understand how to support clients who
take part in exercise and physical activity.
• Health, Safety and Welfare in a fitness environment.
• Principles of exercise, fitness and health. • Planning gym-based exercise.
• Instructing gym-based exercise.
