Fire crews weather the storm
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to 117 incidents as a result of Storm Doris, which brought huge winds of up to 80mph to our region earlier this year.
The ‘weather bomb’ brought severe disruption to roads across the county as Firefighters mobilised to clear debris and remove fallen trees.
Other incidents crews were called to involved collapsed walls and buildings, chimneys and roof tiles ripped from structures and shop signs loosened by the gales.

Firefighters were also called to secure a large marquee in Liverpool One shopping centre which had housed a children’s exhibition called ‘Michael Rosen’s Bear Hunt, Chocolate Cake and Bad Things’.
The attraction was later forced to close due to the damage caused by the storm.
Further incidents crews attended included a shed that was blown in to a road in Netherton, an uprooted tree which landed on a car in Bromborough and a collapsed church roof in Southport.
Shiver Me Timbers!
Driftwood turned to 'gift wood' when Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service's Marine Rescue Unit delivered a huge piece of wood to The Black Pearl pirate ship attraction in New Brighton, Wallasey.
The log was drifting in the River Mersey and posed a danger to ships so the MFRS Marine Fire One rescue boat was deployed to remove it.
Instead of disposing of it the team thought it might make an excellent addition to The Black Pearl and towed it to Cosy Cove in New Brighton where the driftwood pirate ship sits proudly on the shore.
Crews towed the driftwood to the Black Pearl in New Brighton.
The pirates were very pleased with their new booty and are planning to use it as part of the attraction.
Iain Holgate, Team Leader at Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service's Marine Rescue Unit, said: "We have some good contacts at The Black
Pearl and when we were tasked to remove the driftwood from the River Mersey we got in touch
with the team at Cosy Cove as we thought it would make a perfect addition to the pirate ship.
"We were glad to be able to engage with the community in this way and happy to contribute to the
famous Black Pearl.”
