We Did It!
A Passing Out Ceremony was held at the TDA for our 16 firefighter recruits who have completed their intensive training course.
Dignitaries including The High Sheriff of Merseyside, Mr Robert Owen, mayors from the districts across Merseyside, family members and MF&RS staff were invited to the ceremony.
The event started with an inspection of the recruit firefighters by The High Sheriff of Merseyside, Chief Fire Officer Dan Stephens, Deputy Chief Fire Officer Phil Garrigan and Chair of Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority Dave Hanratty.
Recruits displayed their firefighting and rescue skills with a number of exercises. They showed their skills including a rescue from height, a road traffic collision rescue demonstration, a ladder drill and firefighting using hose reels.
This was followed by a ceremony, where the recruits gave presentations on what they have learned before being awarded their Achievement Certificates by Chief Fire Officer Dan Stephens.
The recruit firefighter training was led by Watch Manager Lauren McCormack and Watch Manager Peter Hindley, under the leadership of Station Manager Dave Elliott.
Chief Fire Officer Dan Stephen said: “The recruits have more than met the challenges presented to them throughout their training and in doing so have shown a real commitment towards upholding the values of the Service.
“I would like to congratulate every one of the recruits for their hard work. I am extremely proud of each and every recruit and I wish them a long and happy career with the Service.”
The recruit group secured their posts following a Positive Action recruitment campaign by our Service. More about the Positive Action approach of the Service, which sees a focus on under-represented groups in our Service, can be found at .
