MFRS welcomes Critical Incident Debriefers
MFRS is proud to welcome new voluntary Critical Incident Debriefers.
The Service has now been running a Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) procedure for three years.
As part of this, MFRS has developed a team of in- house Debriefers to offer support to all staff following distressing workplace events.
Joining the existing team are nine members of staff who have recently volunteered to become new Critical Incident Debriefers. These are:
Paul Robson (Speke Blue) Matt Scott (Formby LLAR)
Andy Tait, managing director of LiveWellWorkWell which delivers the training to MFRS, said: “Emotional stress is all too often placed on emergency responders at the scene of traumatic incidents, and it is right that emergency services acknowledge and address this.
“The process that Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service has delivered to protect its workforce is outstanding.”
To find out more information about the Critical Incident Stress Management process, you can visit the newly revamped Occupational Health section on our Portal, found under People and Organisational Development/ Occupational Health/ Critical Incident Stress Management.

Register as a MIND Blue Light Champion
MFRS is currently seeking staff to become Blue Light Champions. These are employees or volunteers who take action in the
workplace to raise awareness of mental health problems and challenge stigma.
There are many people within MFRS that take on this role naturally, unknowingly looking after the mental health
and wellbeing of their
colleagues on a daily basis.
By registering as a Blue Light Champion
on mental health charity Mind’s website you will
be able to access help and support from Mind and from other volunteer Blue Light Champions
in the emergency services.
Signing up through the website will provide Champions with resources for the workplace, support in carrying out the
role, and workshops.
Further information about
the role of a Blue Light Champion can be found at
