fire at former Cream nightclub
Firefighters were called to a fire at the former Cream nightclub building on the corner of Parr Street and Slater Place in Liverpool.
Nine fire engines attended the incident on relief over the course of 15 hours.
The fire occurred in the roof and loft of the building and Firefighters used a main branch hose to tackle the blaze.
Crews then set up cordons on Slater Street and Wolstenholme Square and positioned a combined
platform ladder to attack the fire from above.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to search for hot spots using a thermal imaging camera.
They then dampened down any hot spots with a hose reel jet before handing the incident over to Merseyside Police.
No-one was injured in the fire, which is suspected to have been caused deliberately.
Three taken to hospital after Wirral crash
Firefighters were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Brimstage Road in Wirral involving three women and a young boy.
Two fire engines and the Search and Rescue Team attended the incident in Brimstage and crews removed the roof of one of the cars before pushing the dashboard back to create more space.
Firefighters then helped a woman, aged around 60 years of age, from the same car to safety. She was assessed at the scene by paramedics and taken to Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
A female passenger from the same car, aged around 45 years of age, had made her own way out of the vehicle prior to the arrival of Firefighters. She was taken by ambulance to Arrowe Park Hospital for further checks.
A 27-year-old woman and an eight- year-old boy had made their own way out of the second car before MFRS arrived on the scene.
Crews gave first aid to the woman and boy while awaiting paramedics. The woman was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital but the boy did not require further treatment.
Merseyside Police temporarily closed Brimstage Road in both directions. Crews remained at the scene for around an hour and 20 minutes.
