Title: What is Beacon?
The BEACON and LIFE Projects both have great things for Young People to do, the only difference between them is when the courses are run and how long they last.

  • The BEACON Project is run during school term time and young people come one day a week for 12 weeks.
  • The L.I.F.E. Project runs during the school holidays and young people attend for up to 5 days all in the one week.

Both courses consist of:

  • Teambuilding
  • Fire Safety
  • Fire Fighting

The TEAMBUILDING is designed to help young people gain confidence in their group, to build trust and faith in fellow team members and to get you warmed up at the start of the day. It is also a good laugh!

The FIRE SAFETY is there to show young people how dangerous fires can be and the simple things you can do to keep themselves and their families safe. These are designed to be small and quick classroom based sessions.

The FIRE FIGHTING is just like it sounds. Young People perform tasks that fire fighters do themselves. These include using hose, opening hydrants, using fire extinguishers, Breathing Apparatus and even, fighting a 40ft wall of flame!
