CHRIS

Chris was born and bred in Bootle. He attended Litherland High School and Hugh Baird College.

Chris has worked in Merseyside Fire and Rescue for 5 years, the last 2 years as an Instructor with the Youth Engagement Team. Prior to this, Chris worked in the Fire Services' Princes Trust Volunteer Scheme, coaching 16-25 year olds.

In his spare time, Chris plays the drums. His biggest passion is Heavy Metal - often frequenting many dodgy concerts!!

JOHN

John comes from the Dingle and attended Shorefields School in his youth.
John joined the Royal Greenjackets at 18 and served 6 years in Malaysia, before joining Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.

John spent 30 years as a fire fighter and spent most of his time based at Toxteth Fire Station. John can always tell you of an exciting rescue or drama he was involved in during his career – but be warned, he has a photo gallery of his career…which can take him 30 years to show you!!

John retired as a firefighter in 2002, but immediately rejoined the Fire Service a month later as an Instructor with the Fire Services’ Youth Engagement Team.

John is a superfit guy, cycling or running to work everyday, whatever the weather. John represents Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service at the World Fire Fighter Games, recently earning a Bronze Medal in the Triathlon.

KEITH

Keith, a Geordie at heart was born and raised in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. He joined the Royal Marine Commandos at the age of 15 and served 10 years. On leaving the Marines he joined Cheshire Fire Service, before transferring to Greater Manchester Fire Service. He then transferred to Merseyside Fire Service and where he spent the remaining 26 years, before retiring in 2002.

Like John, Keith immediately rejoined the Fire Service a month later as an Instructor with the Fire Services’ Youth Engagement Team.

Keith is a keen cricketer, but his claim to fame is that he looks like Max from the BBC children’s programme The Tweenies!!

JANINE

Janine grew up in the Toxteth area of Liverpool.  She attended St Mary’s all girl School and stayed on in the 6th Form until she was 19 years old.  Janine gained an NVQ in Leisure and Tourism / Sports Science.

Janine started youth work when she was just 13 years of age. On leaving 6th Form, Janine started working for the Princes Trust Volunteer Scheme in Liverpool Community College before moving to the Princes Trust Teams here in Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service in 2002.  Janine managed to successfully lead 11 Princes Trust Teams before moving to the Youth Engagement Team in 2006. Janine has an interesting collection….of Tattoos – last time we counted there were 14!!

SUZY

Suzy has worked for the Fire Service for 20 years.  She has had many interesting roles over the years but none more so than here with the Youth Engagement Team.  Suzy moved to the Youth Engagement Team when the project began in 2002 and worked along side John and Keith.

Now the Youth Engagement Coordinator, Suzy works tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of the Department and the enjoyment for the young people. Be warned, Suzy is a “Neat Freak” so, make sure all the fireboots are in a perfect line – or else!!
