Fire in under construction building, Liverpool

Date:

Location: Ducie Street, Liverpool

Firefighters are currently in attendance on Ducie Street, Liverpool.

Crews were alerted at 4.52am and on scene at 4.57am. At the height of the fire, three fire engines and the combined platform ladder (CPL) were in attendance.

On arrival crews found a fire involving a mid terraced property. The property was well alight and the roof space was involved in fire, with the fire having spread to another of the properties. It is understood the row of terraced properties was under construction. There are no reports of any injuries.

Due to the properties being deemed unsafe to enter, firefighters fought the fire externally using hose reel jets and main branches. The CPL was used as a water tower to tackle the fire from above.

Good progress was made in tackling the fire by around 6.30am and the incident was scaled down to two fire engines and the CPL.

Firefighting has continued into this afternoon, with the CPL now being used to check for hot spots.

UPDATE 6.45PM.

Firefighting and damping down operations have now ceased. Fire crews left the scene at 6.39pm.
