Living room fire in Rainford, St Helens

Firefighters were called to a fire at a property on Derby Drive in Rainford, Merseyside at 8.29am on Monday, January 22.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 8.17am and crews were alerted at 8.19am. They were on scene at 8.29am.

Two fire engines attended the incident, which involved a fire in the living room of the property.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. They gave oxygen to an occupier at the scene, who was later taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to dampen down and ventilated the area using a PPV fan.

The living room was damaged by fire and the remainder of the property sustained smoke damage.

Fire crews remained at the incident for around 45 minutes.
