Firefighters were called to Gleave Crescent, Everton, on Tuesday 27th August after reports a dog had become stuck.

Crews were alerted at 9.23am and on scene at 9.28am. One fire engine attended.

On arrival crews found a six week old puppy with its head trapped in a reclining chair.

Firefighters attempted to use e-draulic cutting equipment to free the Bichon Frise puppy, before manually unbolting the recliner mechanism to release the dog.

Due to the dog's distress, crews administered oxygen therapy using a smokey paws oxygen mask - designed for use on pets.

The dog was then taken to the vets by its owner for a precautionary check.

Firefighters carried out a Home Fire Safety Check before leaving the scene at 10.05am.
