MFRS launches new BAME staff network

MFRS launches new BAME staff network

Wednesday, 30 October 2019

MFRS' newly-formed BAME Staff Network launched on Thursday, 24th October 2019 to coincide with Black History Month 2019.

The network is organised and led by staff with the aim of providing support, information and inspiration for our BAME (black, Asian and minority ethnic) staff.

At the launch meeting, staff from across the Service came together to get to know one another and discuss how they would like the network to develop and their key priorities.

The network will ensure everyone is included and all voices are heard, leading to a richer diversity of thought.

ACFO Dave Mottram is the senior sponsor for MFRS Staff Networks and the Champion for the BAME Staff Network.

He said: "Networks are a positive avenue for change and improvement. They help demonstrate MFRS' continued commitment to creating an inclusive culture."

Chair of the BAME Network, Watch Manager (Operational, Planning and Policy) Uche Ihiekwe, said: "I'm really proud to be part of this staff network. I feel it is key for the progression of the Service and for all staff to be happy and valued within our workplace."

The BAME staff network will meet at least four times each year.
