2014 FIRE FIT ACTIVE CHALLENGE STAGED
Group Manager Gary Oakford, who organised the event, said: “It was fantastic to see so many enthusiastic children taking part in the range of sports.
“With all the excitement surrounding the World Cup, which has been hosted in Brazil this year, it was chosen as the theme for the event. However the children took part in a variety of sports as well as football.
“Through the Fire Fit initiative, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service works to encourage a healthy
lifestyle among young people, which ties in with our aim to create safer, stronger communities. The children who took part had lots of fun and hopefully it will make them want to take up sport.”
Partners included Merseytravel who helped transport the children to the venue and Orb Events who delivered a Samba Beat dance session.
