The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 bring forward many of the recommendations from Phase One of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry. Article 24 or the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 makes provision for the Secretary of State to create regulations about fire precautions and these regulations are created under that power.
These regulations will come into force on 23rd January 2023 and detail what the Responsible Person must do to comply with their duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
The regulations that a Responsible Person may need to satisfy (depending on the premises) are:
- Regulation 4 Provision of Secure Information Boxes
- Regulation 5 Information about external walls
- Regulation 6 Floor Plans and Building Plans
- Regulation 7 Lifts and essential firefighting equipment
- Regulation 8 Wayfinding Signage
- Regulation 9 Fire Safety Information to residents
- Regulation 10(4) & 10(6)Fire Door checks
- Regulation 10 Fire door information to residents
- Regulation 11 Provision of document to MFRS

Under these Regulations, Responsible Persons for premises of 18 meters (or seven storeys) in height have a duty to provide specific documentation and report certain faults to the local Fire and Rescue Service. The submission form will be available on our website on 23rd January 2023.
