Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) are in attendance at an incident on Old Hall Street, Liverpool, on the evening of Thursday 26 March.

Crews were alerted at 20.12 and on scene at 20.16 with four fire engines, and one aerial appliance attending at the height of the incident.

On arrival, this was an external industrial bin store involved in fire alongside an 11-storey building, that had compromised the ground floor, damaging external cladding.

Firefighters used one hose reel jet to fight the fire, with one main jet being laid out as a precaution.

At 20.23, the fire was extinguished, with Fire Service personnel investigating internal smoke spread.

Merseyside Police are also in attendance, with cordons in place.

Crews completed a full 360 of the building, with no further signs of fire. Firefighters in breathing apparatus (BA) were deployed to the basement area of the building for smoke clearance purposes, equipped with a high pressure hose reel jet and ppv fans.

A multi-agency meeting took place at 21.06, all rooms in the hotel have been checked and cleared, with a complete search of all floors taking place. North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) confirmed that there were no injuries recorded at that moment in time.

Scottish Power are also in attendance to isolate utilities and are standing by awaiting further instruction.

Crews continue to monitor temperatures and clear smoke at the basement level of the building.

Ventilation is ongoing, though BA operations have ceased. NWAS have been stood down, while fire crews engage in cutting back to clean plaster within the basement.

Fire Service personnel are liaising with onsite management to arrange for the alarm panel to be reset. Once this is completed, occupants will be allowed to return to their rooms.
