Location: Lark Lane, Liverpool
Fire crews have been called to an unstable building on Lark Lane in Liverpool this evening.
Crews were alerted at 18.02 and one fire engine was on scene at 18.09.
On arrival, crews were met with an unsafe building structure - a pillar coming away from a two storey property and brickwork cracking around the first floor window. This is a double fronted detached property, which is a flat above a shop.
The roof structure has collapsed into the first floor and the gable end of the building has also collapsed.
Firefighters have requested that residents leave the premises and have now been evacuated. The pavement has been cordoned off and a City Council building surveyor has been requested to attend this incident.
Merseyside Police have also been requested and are in attendance to assist with the cordon and any road closures.
The cordon will remain in place for some time and Police are in attendance. Please avoid the area.
The building surveyor has advised the building owner of next steps. Specialists are on their way to complete work required to remove the pillar and shore up the roof. The occupant of the flat will be rehoused while building works are completed.
Incident has now been handed over to the building owner. Police are remaining in attendance to manage the cordon and road closure.
MFRS crews left the scene at 19.39.
