On arrival, crews were met with an unsafe building structure - a pillar coming away from a two storey property and brickwork cracking around the first floor window. This is a double fronted detached property, which is a flat above a shop.

The roof structure has collapsed into the first floor and the gable end of the building has also collapsed.

Merseyside Police have also been requested and are in attendance to assist with the cordon and any road closures.

The cordon will remain in place for some time and Police are in attendance. Please avoid the area.

The building surveyor has advised the building owner of next steps. Specialists are on their way to complete work required to remove the pillar and shore up the roof. The occupant of the flat will be rehoused while building works are completed.

Incident has now been handed over to the building owner. Police are remaining in attendance to manage the cordon and road closure.
