Building fire, Berry Street, Liverpool City Centre

Location: Berry Street, Liverpool City Centre

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service are in attendance at a building fire on Berry Street, Liverpool City Centre.

Crews were alerted at 8.36 and on scene at 8.40, there are currently five fire engines at this incident.

On arrival, crews were met with a traditional four storey brick and timber building with a commercial premises on the ground floor and flats above.

Two firefighters in breathing apparatus (BA) gained entry to the ground floor premises and began a search of the flats above while 6 firefighters in BA were committed to locate and extinguish the fire.

The fire was located and extinguished shortly after. Work is being carried out underground behind the building, the workers have now been evacuated with the responsible person in attendance to conduct a comprehensive roll call.

Two teams of two firefighters are hot spotting the scene as the incident begins winding down. An audit of the premises and flats above is currently taking place.
