Location: Blackstock Street, Liverpool
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) are in attendance at an incident on Blackstock Street, Liverpool, on the morning of Monday 3 August.
Crews were alerted at 02.57 and on scene at 03.02, with four fire engines and one aerial appliance attending.
Firefighters arrived to find a fire on a roof terrace of a two storey building, approximately 15m x 10m.
This incident has been sectorised and the aerial appliance has been set up and is in use. MFRS crews are fighting the fire and making good progress.
All persons have been accounted for, and MFRS personnel are liaising with the building’s responsible person. Crews are in the process of checking neighbouring premises for fire spread.
This is an ongoing incident, please avoid the area.
UPDATE 5.00AM
At 04.14, the fire was extinguished. Due to signs of fire spread in the adjacent building, two teams of two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus (BA) have been committed with one 52mm hose and are actively firefighting in a second-floor office space. The responsible person for this building has arrived and are liaising with Fire Service personnel.
All crews have been withdrawn from the affected roof space due to concerns of structural damage. Firefighting operations to monitor temperatures and damp down the roof space is being conducted by crew of the aerial appliance.
UPDATE 9.00AM
Fire spread was extinguished by quarter past 5 this morning and mechanical fans were used to clear smoke logging.
Firefighters continued to monitor temperatures and hot spot the affected areas before making up their equipment and leaving the scene at 06.37.
