Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident on Fender Lane, Moreton, on the afternoon of Saturday 12th April.

Crews were alerted at 13.51 and on scene at 13.58 with two fire engine attending.

This was in response to smoke issuing from the roof space of a single storey brick built derelict premises, measuring 20 metres by 10 metres.

Two firefighters in breathing apparatus (BA) were committed under rapid deployment with one high pressure hose reel to prevent escalation.

The fire was extinguished at 14.24, crews used mechanical ventilation with two firefighters in BA hotspotting and damping down the scene.

Merseyside Police and the responsible person for the building also attended.

Crews continued to monitor temperatures, damp down, and check for firespread, before handing over to Merseyside Police, and leaving the scene at 15.00.
