Building Fire, Kensington

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) attended an incident in the L7 area of Liverpool on the evening of Thursday 24th April.

Crews were alerted at 18.30 and on scene at 18.34 with three fire engines attending.

This was in response to reports of smoke issuing from a building approximately 50 metres, consisting of commercial premises and residential flats above.

On arrival crews located smoke logging to a ground floor shop, no visible signs of fire. Firefighters gained access to the flats above to search for occupants and fire.

One occupant was rescued by the Fire Service, conscious and breathing, and conveyed into the care of North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

Two teams of two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus (BA) with one hose reel jet continued to search and clear the premises.

The fire was extinguished at 19.21 and confined to the room of origin. All persons were accounted for, and ventilation then took place.

Merseyside Police also attended to assist with traffic management.

Crews remained at scene to fit smoke alarms throughout the premises, before leaving at 20.30.
