Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are currently in attendance at an incident on Lockerby Road, Liverpool.

Crews were alerted at 15.25 and on scene at 15.28. There are currently six fire engines – for breathing apparatus (BA) support - and the aerial appliance mobilised to this incident.

On arrival crews were met with a two storey building measuring 30m x 30m, with the ground floor well alight. A total of four firefighters in BA have been committed with a hose reel jet and one main branch to tackle the blaze.

The incident is ongoing, please avoid the area. Residents and businesses nearby should keep doors and windows closed.

INCIDENT UPDATE 7.30PM

Firefighters have made good progress and extinguished the fire quickly. Crews remained for some time to dampen down the area and used fans to clear the area of smoke.
