Location: Pasture Road, Moreton
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service is in attendance at an incident at Pasture Road, Moreton.
Crews were alerted at 17.49 and on scene at 17.58. Eight fire engines, an aerial appliance and the service drone are in attendance.
Crews arrived to find a derelict building approximately 100 x 50 metres involved in fire.
The incident has been sectorised and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are fighting the fire internally using hose reel jets
The drone has been set up to assist situational awareness at the scene.
Residents and businesses nearby should close windows and doors. If you have an existing medical condition, keep medicine close and if any ill effects are experienced dial NHS 111 for advice.
This is an ongoing incident. Please avoid the area.
UPDATE 20:30
Following successful firefighting tactics, the high-volume pump has been stood down.
Two hose reel jets remain in use in sector three and the fire appears to be extinguished. Operations in sector one are shutting down.
UPDATE 21:15
Breathing apparatus has been ceased and main bodies of fire have been extinguished. The drone is continuing to be used to survey the main roof.
UPDATE 08:00AM – Wednesday 2nd October
At 10:05pm yesterday evening the fire was fully extinguished, with crews continuing to damp down and monitor temperatures.
Liaising with on site staff, a number of hotspots were located and crews used one hose reel jet to damp down, making good progress.
Hotspotting concluded at 04:19 on the morning of Wednesday 2nd October. Crews made up their equipment and left the scene at 04.32.
