Building fire, Travers Entry, St Helens

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) are in attendance at an incident on Travers Entry in the Bold area of St Helens on the evening of Tuesday 26 May.

Crews were alerted at 21.44 and on scene at 21.49, with four fire engines currently in attendance for personnel.

On arrival this is confirmed building fire and crews are making good progress, water supplies have been established and Merseyside Police are also in attendance.

Due to visible smoke from this incident, local residents should keep doors and windows closed. If you have an existing medical condition keep medicines to hand and if any ill effects are experienced dial NHS 111 for advice.

UPDATE 11PM

At 22.39 the fire was extinguished. MFRS crews are liaising with management to use machinery located onsite to dig out a quantity of roof felt that has been involved in fire.

We have received a high volume of calls regarding this ongoing incident, please avoid the area.

UPDATE 09.30 WEDNESDAY 27 MAY

MFRS crews worked hard into the early hours of Wednesday morning, damping down the affected area and monitoring temperatures, before making up their equipment and handing over the scene to onsite staff.

Fire Service personnel left the scene at 01.27 on the morning of Wednesday 27 May.
