Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident on Marled Hey, Stocksbridge Village, on the evening of Tuesday 1st April.

Crews were alerted at 16.00 and on scene at 16.08, with four fire engines and one aerial appliance attending at the height of the incident.

On arrival, this was one derelict property measuring 30 metres by 20 metres, with smoke issuing from the roof.

Two firefighters in breathing apparatus (BA) were committed with a high pressure hose reel jet to locate and extinguish the fire.

Crews worked hard to extinguish the fire located on the first floor, and check for fire spread.

At 17.14, the fire was extinguished with a total of four firefighters in BA committed, using one main jet.

Hotspotting was carried out by crews while Cadent and Scottish Power were requested to isolate utilities. Merseyside Police also attended to manage the outer cordon.

The incident scaled down as the aerial appliance was released from scene and BA activities ceased.

Natural ventilation to the property commenced as crews damped down and monitored temperatures.

The attendance of the owner of the building and council were requested to safely secure the site.
