Firefighters are currently in attendance at an incident at an electrical unit on Carnegie Road, Old Swan.
Crews were alerted at 12.52am and on scene at 12.55am. Five fire engines are on scene.
On arrival, crews found a large grid battery system container well alight.
Firefighters are using main jets and ground monitors to tackle the fire.
Due to smoke from the incident, residents are asked to keep their doors and windows closed and people are advised to avoid the area if possible.
Anyone with existing medical conditions should keep medicines nearby and call NHS 111 if ill effects occur.
UPDATE - 7.30am
Operations have been scaled down at the location but firefighting continues, with two ground monitors and a main jet in use.
Road closures are no longer in place at the scene.
UPDATE - 11.45am
One engine is still on the scene, where firefighting activities continue. Two ground monitors and one hand-held pump are in use.
An investigation will be carried out.
