Location: Breck Road, Anfield, Liverpool
Firefighters are in attendance at a two-storey shop building in Breck Road, Anfield.
Crews were alerted at 10.14am and on scene at 10.18am. Six fire engines are at the scene.
On arrival, crews found smoke issuing from the building.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using hose reel jets and a main branch to tackle the fire from both the front and rear of the building, which is a former theatre.
Merseyside Police have cordoned off an area and closed the road at the junction of Breck Road and Breckfield Road South. People are advised to avoid the area.
There are not believed to be any injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out.

UPDATE, 2pm:
Firefighters have now extinguished the fire and left the scene.
