Fire on South Avenue and Central Avenue, Prescot

Fire crews were called to a fire on South Avenue and Central Avenue, Prescot this afternoon, 30th April 2026. Crews were alerted at 1.36pm and on scene at 1.38pm, with four fire engines in attendance. 

Crews arrived to find a fire running across the gardens of three adjoining terraced houses. Firefighters began to fight the fire under rapid deployment, wearing breathing apparatus, with high pressure hose reels. One of the fire engines rapidly relocated to Central Avenue as the fire had spread to a further garden belonging to a property to the rear, with four high pressure hose reels being used in total.

The fire had spread to some property including a garden shed and the roof space of a house on Central Avenue. The main body of fire was extinguished by 2.43pm with crews checking for hotspots and, using rope access gear, removing roof tiles of properties on Central Avenue to ensure fire was completely extinguished and to check for fire spread.

Crews identified a gas canister at one of the properties on South Avenue which had been affected by the fire and monitored temperatures to ensure there was no ongoing risk. The electrics of an outdoor living area on South Avenue were also isolated.

Firefighters remain on scene, checking temperatures and ensuring there was no fire spread in roof spaces.
