Location: Heath Road, Allerton, Liverpool
MFRS attended a fire at a block of flats in Knightswood Court, Allerton, Liverpool, on Monday, 13th July.
We were alerted at 5.01pm and on scene at 5.08pm. Five fire engines attended.
On arrival, crews discovered a well-developed fire on the second floor of the building.
Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, tackled the fire using hose reel jets.
One person was rescued from a second floor flat by crew using a smoke hood. Some rescues had also been carried out by members of the public.
Paramedics at the scene assessed eight people, five of whom were taken to hospital for precautionary checks for smoke inhalation.
The fire was extinguished by 5.44pm and crews ventilated the property.
Damage to the building is extensive. An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out.
