Flat fire, Upper Parliament Street, Liverpool

Fire crews have been called to a fire in a flat on Upper Parliament Street, Liverpool L8 this morning. Crews were alerted at 9.19am and on scene at 9.20am, with four fire engines in attendance.

Crews arrived to find a three storey block of flats with a fire on the first floor. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat under rapid deployment procedures and began to fight a fire with a hose reel jet and search the area.

A further two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have entered the flat and firefighting continues with hose reel jets.

Merseyside Police are in attendance and assisting with managing cordons. 

The fire has now been extinguished and the flat is being ventilated. All persons are accounted for and two people have been treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service for slight smoke inhalation.

Two fire engines remain on scene.The incident has been scaled down and will soon draw to a close.
