Location: New Chester Road, Bromborough
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service is at a junction involving New Chester Road and Allport Road, Bromborough CH62 6AS, following reports of a gas leak.
Crews were alerted at 9.36pm and on scene at 9.44pm. Four fire engines are in attendance.
A number of properties have been evacuated as a precaution and a 75m cordon has been put in place.
Cadent, Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service are also in attendance.
The incident is ongoing and there are road closures in place at New Chester Road/Allport Road and New Chester Road/Woodyear Road.
Please avoid the area.
UPDATE 12.51AM
Cadent have temporarily isolated the leak and the gas monitor is reading zero. Repairs will continue throughout the night.
The area has been declared safe and cordons have been reduced to allow people back into their properties.
The incident is being scaled down to one fire engine in attendance while Cadent continue to cap the leak.
