Location: Near Sandy Lane, Thurstaston Common
Fire crews have been called to a fire covering a large area of Thurstaston Common, Wirral.
Crews were alerted at 4.35pm and on scene at 4.46pm. Crews are fighting a fire in very hot conditions in area difficult to reach involving grass, gorse and trees across an area approx. 100 metres square.
6 fire engines are in attendance. The incident is likely to be ongoing for some time.
UPDATE 9.49AM FRIDAY 29TH MAY
Firefighting continued on Thursday night until 9pm with fire breaks put in place to stop the fire progressing overnight.
Firefighters returned to the scene shortly after 6am today to deal with areas that continued to smoke.
Firefighters have returned to the scene this morning and are damping down any areas that are continuing to smoke.
Activities are ongoing.
