Location: West Kirby
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) are in attendance at an incident on Grange Hill, Lang Lane South, West Kirby.
Crews were alerted at 18.27 and on scene at 18.34 with an initial two fire engines attending.
On arrival this is a large area of grassland well alight. There are currently eight fire engines at scene for resources and personnel.
This is an ongoing incident, please avoid the area.
UPDATE - Wednesday 27 August 9.51:
Firefighters fought the fire, which measured approximately 20 metres by 30 metres, using a main branch hose and three additional hoses.
The incident was later sectorised and crews continued firefighting in each section using two main jet hoses and multiple hose reel jets.
At 20.24 the service drone was deployed to monitor the fire.
Following successful firefighting tactics, the main body of fire was extinguished by 22.37.
One fire engine has returned to the scene this morning to monitor for hotspots.
