Location: Litherland, Sefton
Fire crews are in attendance at a large grass fire in a field opposite Trawden way, Litherland. Crews were alerted at 4.25pm and on scene at 4.29pm, with four fire engines currently in attendance.
The incident is ongoing. Residents nearby should keep doors and windows closed. If you have an existing health condition keep medicines close and if any ill effects are experienced dial NHS 111 for advice.
INCIDENT UPDATE 5.20pm
Fire crews arrrived to find a large fire involving grass and hay, around 300 by 500 metres in size. The incident was divided into sectors and fire crews fought the fire with beaters and hose reel jets, making good progress. The main body of fire was extinguished by 5.12pm with crews then checking for hot spots and dampening down. Merseyside Police were in attendance assisting with road closures. The incident is now being scaled down.
